Keith R. Murphy
If I am elected, I will consistently oppose higher taxes, higher spending, and every state intervention into our personal and professional lives.
Like every responsible citizen, I have been increasingly frustrated by the actions of the current leadership in our state legislature. Taxes and fees have steadily increased, as well as the regulatory burden on our businesses and our personal lives. Spending has skyrocketed 17% over the past biennium, and rather than cut spending when a $200 million deficit became obvious, the legislature decided to borrow the money by ramming through a bond bill in a special session, without any public hearings. These actions amount to an erosion of the traditional New Hampshire way of low spending, individual freedom, and personal responsibility.
I truly believe we cannot continue down this path of government expansion. To do so would not only mean the imposition of a state income or sales tax, and additional regulations in our businesses and homes, it would mean sacrificing our “Live Free or Die” ethic. And I can not in good conscience stand by and do nothing while that happens.
It is for this reason that I have decided to seek the office of state representative for Manchester’s West Side. If I am elected, I will consistently oppose higher taxes, higher spending, and every state intervention into our personal and professional lives. I will work to lower housing costs by repealing restrictions that hamper redevelopment efforts, to restore true local control over education, and to strengthen penalties for violent criminals. Those are my promises to you.
Thank you in advance for your encouragement and support. I look forward to a vigorous campaign and to bringing positive change to Concord.
